Description:

Samuel Coleridge-Taylor was a British composer of African and English descent who lived from 1875 to 1912. “Hiawatha’s Wedding Feast” is a captivating and vibrant cantata that showcases Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s talent for blending different musical styles and capturing the spirit of the story it portrays. The cantata was composed in 1898 when Coleridge-Taylor was just 23 years old, and it became an instant success.
The Carroll Symphony Orchestra begins the concert with well-known works of Aaron Copland: “Fanfare for the Common Man” and “Hoedown” from RODEO.
Guest Tenor soloist Timothy Miller performs 3 African American Spirituals.
