Legacy of Kings

Legacy of Kings

GCA 068 May 7, 2024 | 7:30 PM Season: 17 First Baptist Church of Griffin

Description:

The era of King David and King Solomon resulted in some of the most familiar Old Testament passages in the Bible. David established Jerusalem as the political and religious center of Israel. Solomon, in addition to his reputation for being wise, was responsible for the construction of the First Temple in Jerusalem. Their literary legacy can be found in the Psalms, Song of Solomon, Proverbs, and Ecclesiastes. In this concert, we present choral music from various style periods that highlights the legacy of these great Old Testament rulers.

  1. Psalm 100 (Clausen, Rene)
  2. Psalm 150 (Franck, Cesar)
  3. Last Words of David, The (Thompson, Randall)
  4. O Praise the Lord, All Ye Nations (Beach, Amy)
  5. Out of the Deep - Requiem (Rutter, John)
  6. I Am Black (Nigra Sum) (Casals, Pablo)
  7. Psalm 23 - Songs of Faith (Basler, Paul)
  8. Blessed Be the Name of the Lord (Grotenhuis, Dale)
  9. Come Dwell in Solomon’s Walls (Stroope, Z. Randall)
